October 1, 2002, marked the beginning of a new leadership team for Civitan. Although several names and faces have changed, the mission remains: to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities."

On October 1st I was in Norway, concluding a trip to Europe to visit districts and clubs in Norway, Hungary, Romania, and the Ukraine. The language is different, the culture is much different, but the mission remains the same - serving individual and community needs. As I had the opportunity to participate in chartering the Kalotaszentkiraly (Transylvania) Club in Romania, the electric power had failed, and we had candies and one light, provided by a generator, I believe. We fellowshipped and celebrated a new community in the Civitan family when more than 60 people became Civitans!

As members of Civitan, you have selected your leadership team for 2002-03. In doing so, you have made a statement, agreeing to support them this year. If Civitan is to become a household word, we must share our organization and mission, Therefore, your support will provide the catalyst for change as we break out of our box and encourage our organized growth.

I solicit your help as we link our hands together and "Reach Out To Our World." "Together We Can!" Join with me as we make this an outstanding Civitan year. Let's stay positive as we address the challenges and opportunities for Civitan worldwide.
